Lymphedema and My Breast Prosthetic: Cancer Project #37
Lymphedema is not fun but I can’t believe it is not part of the “this could happen” speech the surgeons and oncologists give at the time of diagnosis, prior to surgery and chemo. One out of five women with breast cancer develops lymphedema. Shouldn’t that high risk number make it part of the warnings along with all of the other side effects? I’m still furious that it’s not and that I was not given advance warning about this. Just that little bit of knowledge might have made me take action sooner and get answers faster.
