Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) related oropharynx cancers are now the 8th leading cancer in men in the U.S. HPV-induced tumors hit a very healthy young patient population. Although on the rise, 99% of the people with HPV-tumors are cured by treatment. Patients can do very well with limited minimally invasive surgery and a decreased dose of targeted radiotherapy and sometimes targeted chemotherapy, resulting in much fewer side effects from those treatments.
