Probiotic: For some with EDS, taking probiotics is imperative, our food is not digesting because our intestinal epithelium is weakened and unable to secrete the juices needed to breakdown our food. By taking the good bacteria probiotic, our food is being predigested by the bacteria. Our intestines need assistance in digestion. The good bacteria are doing the work that our inefficient mucosa and epithelium cannot.. When our food is broken down into "teensy, tiny" particles we have fewer mast cell histamine release. It also assists in boosting our weakened immune systems. For me, it eliminates my mast cell symptoms everyday. If we also take the L-Arginine with the probiotic the intestinal lining can restore itself and our food will become easier to digest. I am hopeful that probiotics may not be necessary after the digestive tissues are completely restored, only time will tell. Remember none of the supplements are a cure, but instead a daily treatment taken everyday until a cure for Ehlers Danlos is found.
Because Ehlers Danlos Syndrome is caused by a metabolic biosynthesis dysfunction and a dysfunction of DNA and RNA signaling pathways we must supplement our bodies with:
*Polysaccharides to target the Genes CO1A1 and CO3A1 in fibroblast cells of connective tissues. http://cms.daegu.ac.kr/jwyun/publication/76.pdf
*d-Ribose to target the Genes CO4A1 and CO5A1 in schwann cells of the myelin of the peripheral nervous system by increasing ATP activity.
*L-Arginine to target the endothelial cells of the intestinal tract lining and the endothelial cells of veins, arteries and heart. L-Arginine opens signaling pathways of DNA and RNA.
*Probiotic to restore Flora in digestive tract, enhance food digestion and control mast cell activation.
