Many patients have asked whether varicocele can cause cancer or not. Dr. Himanshu states that varicocele cannot cause cancer because it is actually a swelling of the veins due to which reflexes develop in the veins, which causes atrophy to the testicles, and it can only become cancerous if it goes through further damage and when it is not treated.

If your CT scan or ultrasound reports mention a tumor or malignant cyst, it can be cancerous, also known as testicular cancer. Keep in mind that varicocele never converts into cancer.

Many patients struggling with varicocele and who have been suffering from atrophy due to it and have not gone for any treatment or surgery are at high risk of developing cancer because when the atrophy develops and is not treated, the testicles start to degrade and turn cancerous as that certain part has stopped working.

Even a simple cyst can also develop in your testicles. It can be mistaken with varicocele as well. But this simple cyst does not cause any problem to you, and only in some patients, it causes pain. You can also go for a CT scan if you want a clear analysis.

If you feel or think you have a cyst, do not assume it as cancerous without going for proper analysis, and always go for an expert who can guide you the right way.
